Greek Week is a week full of several events where each organization participates and competes for points. Events typically comprise of Greek gorge (an eating contest), mini golf, volleyball, ultimate frisbee, twister, flag football, foosball, arm wrestling, basketball, weightlifting, darts, kickball, along with spirit events, and a day entitled field day. Field day normally consists of an egg toss, wheelbarrow race, 4x100 relay, tire toss, softball throw, 4 legged race, tug of war, and human pyramid. Events are hosted by the organizations, each group hosting one event, and field day is hosted by the Greek Week Greek Sing committee. At the end of the week points are counted and first, second, and third place winners are announced.
Greek Sing
Greek Sing is an event which kicks off Greek Week, which occur in every spring semester of the academic year. Greek Sing consists of a group of Greek organizations paired together to create a dance to a few songs which follow a particular theme, such as Disney and Broadway. Many Greeks from other campuses actually sing at this event, hence it's name. However at IUP we traditionally do not sing. Greek Sing is therefore a dance competition and is judged for technique and creativity. The winners receive points toward Greek Week. Also all proceeds gained through donations and penny wars is donated to the Make A Wish Foundation.
